Our team is here for you! Chat with us live using the platform below or give us a call at 1800 786 651.

Students have up to 12 months to complete the TAE40122 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, but there is no minimum time frame. This means you can progress at your own pace and complete the course as quickly or gradually as needed.

The volume of learning set out by ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority) for this qualification typically ranges between 600 to 2400 hours, depending on your prior experience and knowledge.

The actual time required will vary based on your individual circumstances, including any previous experience in training and assessment, your work and family commitments, and the amount of time you can dedicate to your studies each week.

Since the course is self-paced, you have full flexibility to manage your study schedule in a way that suits you.

Yes, our TAE40122 Cert 4 in Training and Assessment can be completed entirely online. However, all students must attend a one-day interactive online assessment workshop for the unit TAEASS413 Participate in Assessment Validation, which is included as part of the course.

Additionally, we offer an optional two-hour workshop to help students get a head start on the introductory unit, BSBINS303 Use Knowledge Management Systems.

While the course is fully online, it includes various interactive activities where you will need to engage with others. Some tasks require you to simulate scenarios with colleagues or friends, record interactions, or obtain feedback on activities. These practical elements are essential to meeting the assessment requirements.

If you prefer to complete all practical tasks independently, we recommend reviewing the Assessment section on the TAE40122 online course page to ensure you meet the necessary requirements.

At Plenty Training, we offer the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment primarily through a self-paced, online format, allowing students to study at their convenience without the need to attend scheduled classes. However, some components of the course require participation in interactive online workshops to meet assessment requirements:

  • BSBINS303 Use Knowledge Management Systems (recommended) – This unit involves a two-hour interactive online workshop, with sessions available either from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Queensland time). While this workshop is included in the course fees, we recommend booking your session early in your studies.
  • TAEASS413 Participate in Assessment Validation – This unit includes a compulsory one-day interactive online workshop, running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Queensland time). This session is essential for completing specific assessment tasks that must be observed by a qualified assessor.

In addition to these required workshops, we also offer optional interactive online (iClass+) and face-to-face workshops, designed to assist with the practical components of the course. These sessions provide additional support and can be attended based on your individual learning preferences and needs.

While the course is largely self-directed, attending the specified interactive online workshops is necessary to fulfill certain unit requirements. Any additional workshop participation is optional and can be tailored to suit your learning style.

Yes, if you hold a previous version of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, such as the TAE40110 or TAE40116, you may be eligible for an upgrade pathway to the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. These update options recognise your prior learning and completed units, allowing you to transition to the latest qualification efficiently.

If you hold an even older qualification, such as the BSZ (2002) or TAA, there is no direct update to the TAE40122. However, if you have been actively working as a trainer and assessor since obtaining your qualification, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or enrolment in our Workplace Trainer’s RPL+GAP pathway.

We strongly recommend speaking with one of our Course Advisors to discuss your individual circumstances and determine the best pathway for you.

Yes, you can complete the Cert IV in Training and Assessment online from overseas, as long as you meet the course requirements. Our self-paced online delivery allows you to study from anywhere in the world, provided you have a reliable internet connection and a computer with audio and webcam functionality.

All required workshops, including the TAEASS413 Participate in Assessment Validation practical day, are conducted via interactive online assessment workshops, so you do not need to attend in-person sessions. However, before enrolling, we strongly recommend reviewing the assessments listed on the TAE40122 course page to ensure you can meet all practical assessment requirements.

It’s also important to check whether the qualification is recognised in your country if you intend to use it for employment outside Australia. If you have any questions, our team is happy to assist.

If you have been delivering training and assessment in your current role, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. RPL allows your existing skills, knowledge, and experience to be assessed against the qualification requirements, potentially reducing the number of units you need to complete.

The full RPL process is best suited to trainers and assessors who have been delivering nationally recognised units of competency within the vocational education and training (VET) sector for several years. To be eligible for full RPL, you must provide sufficient evidence demonstrating that you meet all competency requirements of each unit. This typically includes documented training experience, work samples, session plans, learner assessments, feedback reports, third-party verification from your employer and a competency interview with a trainer.

If your experience is more limited, or if you have delivered training outside the VET sector (such as a high school teacher, university lecturer, or enterprise trainer), you may not meet the full RPL requirements. In this case, our Workplace Trainer’s RPL+GAP pathway may be a better option. This pathway recognises your existing experience while providing targeted learning and assessment tasks to help you meet the competency requirements for the qualification.

We recommend speaking with one of our Course Advisors to assess your experience and determine the best pathway for you.

We recommend checking with your state or territory government to explore any available subsidies or funding initiatives that may apply to your situation.

For flexible payment options, we offer Zip Money and Ezypay payment plans to help make the course more accessible. If you’d like to discuss payment options or funding possibilities, our Course Advisors are happy to assist.

Yes, the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the latest nationally recognised qualification for trainers and assessors in Australia. It supersedes the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which is no longer open for new enrolments.

This qualification meets the current regulatory requirements set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and is designed to equip trainers and assessors with the most up-to-date skills and knowledge required to deliver accredited training in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

If you hold an older version of the qualification, you may be eligible for an update pathway to transition to the TAE40122. Speak with our Course Advisors to explore your options.

Yes, if you have previously completed units that are equivalent to those in the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, you may be eligible for a Credit Transfer (CT). This allows you to receive recognition for those units, reducing the number of assessments you need to complete.

To apply for a credit transfer, you will need to provide a valid Statement of Attainment or Transcript from an Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that confirms you have successfully completed the unit(s). Only units deemed equivalent in the TAE40122 training package can be credited.

If you’re unsure whether your completed units qualify, our Course Advisors can assess your transcripts and guide you through the process.

Assessments for the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are competency-based, meaning there are no exams. Instead, you will complete 12 workbooks, one for each unit of competency.

Within your workbooks, you can expect to complete a variety of practical and written tasks, including:

  • Short-answer questions to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding
  • Validating assessments to assess their effectiveness and compliance
  • Conducting presentations and delivering training sessions
  • Practical activities that may require interaction with colleagues, learners, or simulated scenarios

These assessments are designed to reflect real-world training and assessment tasks, ensuring you gain practical, hands-on experience that prepares you for work in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

The TAE40116 vs TAE40122 comparison comes down to key updates in course structure, unit content, and industry alignment. The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the latest version, replacing the TAE40116 trainer and assessor course with improvements that better reflect modern vocational education and training (VET) standards.

Here are the main differences:

  • Updated content – The TAE40122 includes revised materials to align with current training and assessment practices.
  • Revised core units – Some units from the TAE40116 have been updated, replaced, or removed to meet new industry requirements.
