Graduate Spotlight: Samantha Holtham – Achieving the gold standard with the TAE50122
“TAE qualifications are very involved but like most qualifications, you will soon realise how much knowledge you gather by doing these courses. You will get so much job satisfaction being able to share your industry knowledge and experience with new students.”
Meet Samantha Holtham.
A champion in her field, Samantha’s career in the Vocational Education and Training sector highlights the importance of staying ahead of the pack and achieving at a high level. Committed to her own professional development, Samantha has recently updated to the TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education from the two previous qualifications, positioning herself as a leader within the VET sector.
Samantha’s journey in training and assessment began 16 years ago in 2008, her dedication to continuous development has seen her through multiple qualifications including the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and multiple iterations of the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training. Her journey highlights her awareness of staying ahead in her field and ensuring she is equipped with the most up-to-date tools and techniques available in order to make a lasting impact on not only her students, but the industry at large.
“I have always been motivated to keep up to date with the required qualifications for my work,” Samantha shares. “Now that I work as an RTO coach and consultant, and provide monthly online professional development webinars for trainers, I feel I need to maintain my currency too.” As a Client Success Champion for new and already established RTOs, she works closely to audit and assist RTOs in not only reaching compliance but maintaining it in the long term. Through this she’s able to impact the lives of thousands of students, elevating the standards within the industry.
Samantha’s decision to pursue the new Diploma with a specialisation in VET leadership has proven to be a turning point, providing her with advanced skills in team management, compliance and operational excellence. “By undertaking TAE qualifications, it prepares me to pay attention to detail and to understand all of the requirements of Training and Assessing, leadership, teamwork and sharing knowledge,” Samantha explains.
She credits multiple factors in her journey with Plenty Training as having greatly contributed to her success but says the ongoing support she received from her Assessor, David Murray, was crucial. “David, my designated assessor, is so relaxed but thorough. He explains the RPL and gap training processes very clearly,” Samantha recalls. “David conducted my first RPL for the dual diploma and I was really happy when I found out that he was helping me once again.”
Today, Samantha leads professional development webinars, consults on compliance issues, and assists RTOs in unpacking training packages to meet evolving industry standards. Her qualifications have given her the knowledge and confidence to continually excel in her roles and enabled her to enjoy meaningful and long-term career progression.
